All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household.
He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
and not holding fast to the head, from whom the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth which is from God.
Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its {evil} practices,
but after we had already suffered and been mistreated in Philippi, as you know, we had the boldness in our God to speak to you the gospel of God amid much opposition.
{and} that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter because the Lord is {the} avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned {you.}
But examine everything {carefully;} hold fast to that which is good;
So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word {of mouth} or by letter from us.
Likewise, {I want} women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,
{He must be} one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity
(but if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of the church of God?),
{but} holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.
Deacons must be husbands of {only} one wife, {and} good managers of {their} children and their own households.
but in case I am delayed, {I write} so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.
But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women. On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness;
for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and {also} for the {life} to come.
Do not sharply rebuke an older man, but {rather} appeal to {him} as a father, {to} the younger men as brothers,
the older women as mothers, {and} the younger women as sisters, in all purity.
But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
A widow is to be put on the list only if she is not less than sixty years old, {having been} the wife of one man,
